The brief
Aryxe is a web agency serving the DACH market - web design, digital marketing and branding under one roof for their clients. What they didn't have enough of was development capacity: designers, marketers and project managers who needed developers able to keep pace with the pipeline of work coming in.
Rather than hire and manage an in-house team for every spike in demand, Aryxe asked us to extend theirs. Our developers joined their existing teams directly - working alongside their designers, marketers and PMs as if they'd always been there, not as an outside vendor bolted on for the duration of a project.
That arrangement started in 2016 and is still running - the longest partnership we have with anyone. Over the ten years since, we've delivered more than 130 projects together, for clients ranging from a neighbourhood bakery's website to Tier 1 automotive OEMs.
- 01Aryxe needed a development team that could flex with their pipeline, not a fixed headcount that sat idle between projects or buckled under a busy quarter.
- 02Multiple projects running at once, each with its own client, PM and designer to answer to.
- 03Every client arrived with their own requirements, expectations and way of working - nothing about the engagement was standardised.
- 04Developers had to work inside someone else's process, not ours - Aryxe's workflows, tools and client relationships, not a template we brought with us.
- +Developers who could join an existing team and be productive immediately, not ramp up for weeks.
- +Reliable delivery across dozens of concurrent projects, each with different requirements and different people to report to.
- +A relationship built to last past a single project - Aryxe needed a team they could keep coming back to, not a one-off vendor.
- +Range - a bakery's website and an automotive OEM's platform both had to get the same standard of work.
We stopped being a vendor Aryxe hired per project, and became a development team they could hand almost anything to.
How we worked
Not a single project with phases, but a standing arrangement - developers embedded in Aryxe's teams, project after project, for ten years.
Joining the team
Our developers joined Aryxe's existing teams directly, working alongside their designers, marketers and PMs rather than reporting in from outside as a separate vendor.
Learning their process
Every client came with its own requirements and expectations, and every project ran inside Aryxe's own workflow, not ours. Adapting to that, repeatedly, became part of the job.
Scaling with the pipeline
As Aryxe's client list grew, so did the number of projects we were part of at once - each with its own PM, designer and deadline to answer to.
130 projects and counting
The arrangement has outlasted any single project - developers embedded, delivering, and moving on to the next brief as Aryxe's pipeline demands.
More than the code
Working as part of someone else's agency is a different discipline to running our own projects end to end - and it taught us as much as we delivered.
A different way of working
Joining an existing team meant adapting to workflows, tools and communication styles that weren't ours to set - a real departure from how we normally run a project.
Learning to adapt
We treated it as a chance to learn, not a constraint to work around - understanding how different teams and industries expect to be worked with, project by project.
A more versatile team
The range, from small local businesses to Tier 1 automotive OEMs, made us better at adjusting our approach to whoever we're building for - a skill that now shows up in every engagement, not just this one.
Stack & tools
Not one stack, but whichever one the project called for - Aryxe's clients came with their own requirements, and our developers worked across all of them.
Where it stands now
Ten years on, we're still an embedded part of Aryxe's development capacity - picking up new projects as they come in, across whichever stack a client's requirements call for. 130+ projects in, and older than any other partnership we have, the arrangement looks less like a vendor relationship and more like a shared team.
